The Israel Football League held just one game this weekend, and the Ramat Hasharon Hammers completed a season sweep of the Jerusalem “Big Blue” Lions, with a 34-20 victory.
With both teams playing without their starting quarterbacks, the running games and defense took center stage. Hammers running back Adam Kima carried the rock 30 times for 121 yards and a touchdown as the Hammers overcame an early 10-8 deficit. Beto Gonzales, under center for the visiting Hammers, rushed for two touchdowns as part of a decisive third-quarter 18-0 run. The Hammers now control their own destiny and can clinch the third seed if they win out.
Effi Mishaan rushed for 55 yards and 2 scores for the Lions, who need a victory against the undefeated Judean Rebels next week in order to avoid going on the road for a wildcard game.
