Golf / Champion of Champions: Ashley Silber Wins Both Gross and Net Prizes at Gaash Club

The Gaash Golf Club started the new year with the 2014 Champion of Champions tournament, sponsored by The Geographical Tours Company.

Ashley Silber is the 2014 champion of champions, after winning the gross and net prizes. Sixty golfers played in the tournament, 22 in the championships and 38 in an individual stableford competition. All participants had been a champion during one of the golf club’s competitions last year.

Silber played the front 9 with one birdie 5 pars and 3 bogeys, giving him a 2-over-par 37 coming in with a 3-over-par 38 that included one birdie 4 pars and 4 bogeys. Silber’s gross was 75 playing off a 5 handicap; he had a net 70. In second place was Richard Fogelson. In the A division of the stableford format there was a tie between Gary Vandermolen and Gil Bianco, with Vandermolen winning on the countback. Eliezer Shkedi won the B division of the stableford, followed by Yehudit Merdler. Nearest to the pin prizes sponsored by Greenfield restaurant went to Gil Bianco and David Tor.

Last week Uri Blum scored a hole-in-one on the par-3 ninth hole which plays 160 meters. Blum was playing with Gideon Bar-Lev and Sam Fisher.

In addition, last week in stormy weather conditions the final of the 2014 league championships was completed. The Albatross team, with the Gaash Golf Club Head Professional David Goldenberg and Amos Aharoni, beat the Bently group on the 20th hole. Playing for Bently were Hazi Magen and Yoav Shenhav. Also on the Albatross team were Eliezer Peleg and Moolie Avisar, and on Bently Yehuda Levy and Ori Ilan.
