The deployment and reinforcement of security forces in Tel Aviv on Friday were not part of a response to a threat of an imminent terror attack, but rather part of increased preparedness following a security assessment by Tel Aviv District Police, the police said.

The police decided to step up security measures following last Friday's attack in Tel Aviv and the possibility that someone else would try to imitate it.

There is no certain information that a terrorist is currently in Tel Aviv, police stressed, asking to reassure the public.

In the meanwhile, security forces were searching for Nashat Melhem in the northern Arara area.
