A group of secular Jerusalemites have done the unthinkable: they set up an alternative public transportation cooperative in the city, called “Shabus,” that was meant to bypass Israel’s strict laws prohibiting public transportation on Shabbat and religious festivals. History was made last week when the first route was operated.
