A 17-year-old Palestinian was killed Thursday evening and three other Palestinians seriously injured in clashes with Israel Defense Force soldiers in the West Bank near Ramallah, the Palestinian Authority Health Ministry has reported.
The IDF spokesman reported that three of the Palestinians had thrown firebombs at a food stand in the vicinity of the Jewish settlement of Beit El, near Ramallah. Soldiers from the Golani brigade opened fire at the Palestinians and saw that one of them had been hit, but the Palestinians then fled the scene, the army said.
Palestinian reports stated that the 17-year-old who was killed in the incident was Mahmoud Mahmoud Hattab. The three wounded Palestinians were reportedly hit in the chest and the head.
In an incident early Wednesday in the southern Gaza Strip, an 18-year-old Palestinian was killed and two other young Palestinians wounded by IDF tank fire near the Israeli border. The IDF said the incident was exceptional, adding that it would be investigated.
The IDF Spokesman's Office said that the three were identified as assailants, but didn’t specify why. According to an initial report, Israeli troops saw the three acting suspiciously, as if they were planting explosives.
Ashraf Al-Qudra, the spokesman of the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, identified the man who was killed as Yousef Shaban Abu Adra, and said that he and the two wounded Palestinians were taken to Abu Yousef Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah.
