Palestinian Shot and Killed During Attempt to Stab Soldier, Israeli Army Says

Incident takes place at a checkpoint near Tulkarm in the northern West Bank.

A Palestinian man who attempted to stab an Israeli soldier was shot and killed in the West Bank on Tuesday, the military said.

The statement said no soldier was wounded in the incident, which took place at a checkpoint near Tulkarm in the northern West Bank.

Palestinian reports said the suspected attacker as Nidal Daoud Mahdawi, 44, from Tulkarm.

A 17-year-old Palestinian was killed Monday by Border Police fire during clashes in the village of Tuqu near Bethlehem.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, the dead youth, Qusai Hassan al-Amour, was hit by three bullets in his upper body. It was also reported that four people were wounded in the incident.

The Israel Defense Forces reported that the Palestinian threw stones at the force, which responded by firing bullets from Ruger rifles, which is considered by the army a weapon for protest dispersal although it uses live, if reduced in size, bullets.
