Palestinian Boy Shot by Israel During Gaza Protests Dies of Wounds, Palestinians Say

Zakariya Bashbash was wounded two weeks ago in clashes on the border between protesters and Israeli security and hospitalized

A 13-year-old Palestinian who was severely injured in recent clashes between protestors and Israeli security forces on the Gaza border died Monday.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said that Zakariya Bashbash was shot in his stomach by Israeli fire in Gaza protests two weeks ago, on June 1. He was admitted to Gaza's Shifa Hospital where he stayed until he succumbed to his injuries Monday.

A 24-year-old Palestinian man was killed by Israeli army gunfire when a group of Palestinians tried to breach the Gaza border fence, reports in the Strip said Monday.

According to the Israeli military, five Palestinians were injured when "security infrastructure" they were attempting to damage exploded. 

Also on Monday, the Israeli mitary said that it had attacked nine Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, including military compounds and weapons production facilities, late Sunday night. Three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israel early on Monday morning, with one of them landing in the Gaza Strip, shortly afterward.

On Sunday evening, the Israeli military reported that it had struck a car used by a group of Palestinians who launched incindiery balloons from the southern Gaza Strip into Israel, the fourth such strike in a day.
