A minibus accident in Cuba has taken the life of one Israel and injured eight others.

The original report comes from the Israeli consulate in Ottawa, Canada, by way of the Canadian Embassy in Cuba.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed shortly after that an Israeli, Nahoum Henkin, a 70-year-old resident of Gadera, had been killed in the accident and added that it was working with the Canadian embassy in Cuba to assist Henkin's family and the rest of those wounded.

Those hurt in the accident sustained mild to moderate injures, none of which are considered life-threatening.

Israel has no embassy in Cuba and its diplomatic relations with the Caribbean island nation have been suspended since 1973.
