Frank, Waxman to star in "Macbeth" at Cameri

Gil Frank has been chosen to play the title role in "Macbeth" in the Cameri theater's new production of Shakespeare's play, to be staged on July 4. The play will be directed by Omri Nitzan, using an new translation by Dori Parnes. The last time the Cameri staged "Macbeth" was 25 years ago. Rehearsals for the production start in the coming weeks. Lady Macbeth will be played by Anat Waxman, and the casting for other key roles will be decided over the next few days. Frank broke his leg several days before the beginning of rehearsals, remarking: "You could say that I've already paid my dues for this role. Now we can start working." (Shir Hacham )

Jerusalem's Abraham Hostel among world's top 10

The Abraham Hostel, a hostel founded in Davidka Square in Jerusalem two years ago with 72 rooms and 230 beds, won a place this week on a list of the 10 best big hostels in the world. The ranking was given by, the world's largest hostel-booking website. Each year, in an international conference, the website chooses the best hostels in the world in several categories by weighing the comments left by visitors who have booked hostel stays through the website. The competition includes various categories at the regional and global level, and has separate categories according to hostel size. The Abraham Hostel was selected at a conference held in Dublin this week, where the "Hoscars" prizes were awarded. The Abraham Hostel is currently the largest private hostel in Israel. Among the prominent owners are Yaron Burgin, who manages it, and Maoz Inon, who developed the Jesus Trail in the Galilee and is also the owner of the Fauzi Azar Inn hostel in Nazareth. The Trio of Oz coming in April

The jazz-fusion trio "The Trio of Oz," led by drummer Omar Hakim and the pianist Rachel Z, will perform one concert in Israel this year, on April 1 at the Goldstar Zappa club in Herzliya. Hakim is one of the best pop-fusion drummers there is, and has played alongside great jazz artists such as Miles Davis and Weather Report, as well as with pop stars such as David Bowie, Dire Straits, Sting, Bryan Ferry and Madonna. Rachel Z is a jazz pianist who has played with saxophonist Wayne Shorter's ensemble, but she moves between the worlds of pop and jazz, and during the last decade was part of Peter Gabriel's ensemble. The Trio of Oz plays groove and fusion, alongside cover versions of songs by Depeche Mode, The Police and The Killers. The third member of the group is bassist Luques Curtis. (Ben Shalev )
