Nudge nudge, wink wink to Python fans

A 3-D screening of the animated film "A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman," billed as a "factually incorrect biography of Graham Arthur Chapman, one of the founding members of Monty Python," will be part of a salute to the comedy group at Israel's British Film Festival, beginning on January 31. Ky-Mani Marley to carry dad's legacy to Tel Aviv

Reggae singer Ky-Mani Marley, a son of reggae legend Bob Marley, is scheduled to perform in Israel for the first time on February 20, at the Barby club in Tel Aviv. His debut album, "Like Father Like Son," was released in 1996, and he has sinced put out four more albums, which combine reggae, Jamaican dancehall music and hip-hop. (Uri Zer Aviv)

Dudu Tassa records French version of 'Ve'akhshav'

Israeli singer Dudu Tassa has recorded a song in French for MTV Israel, as part of a project supported by the French Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, which can be viewed on HOT channel 25 and Yes channel 75. The song Tassa sings is a French version of the Hebrew song "Ve'akhshav," and a new music video for the song was filmed Monday. (Uri Zer Aviv)

Artist Zvi Tolkovsky to be recognized by state

Artist Zvi Tolkovsky, 78, has been announced as the winner of the 2012 lifetime achievement award to be presented by the Culture and Sports Ministry, for his contribution to the plastic arts. The prestigious award comes with a NIS 70,000 prize. Tolkovsky, a painter and sculptor who works in paper and mixed media, headed the fine arts department of Jerusalem's Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in the late 1980s. He has had numerous solo exhibitions in the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic as well as in Israel. (Ellie Armon Azoulay)

Singer Asaf Avidan goes up against Jay-Z, Kanye West

Israeli singer Asaf Avidan, who is up for five prizes in the World Music Awards, has been invited to perform at the awards ceremony at Marlins Park in Miami on December 22. One of the categories Avidan has been nominated for is best musician, in which he is competing against such well-known performers as Jay-Z and Kanye West. Voting is open to the public through the awards website, The contest is open to musicians from 180 countries. (Uri Zer Aviv)
