'Encyclopedia of Ideas' sued

On Wednesday, communications and cultural expert Avivit Agam Dali filed a suit against the authors of the Hebrew book "The Encyclopedia of Ideas," claiming that she wrote parts of the book, which was published this year by the Bavel publishing house. Dali is seeking NIS 250,000 in damages for copyright infringement from authors David Gurevitz and Dan Arav. She claims she wrote several entries and had been promised that her name would appear among the authors and that she would be paid. (Maya Sela )

Publisher announces novel-writing winners

The winners of Am Oved Publishers' contest "Kol Hahat'halot" (All the Beginnings ), aimed at finding new voices in Israeli literature, were announced Wednesday. The winners, Yonatan Berg, Rachel Dana-Fruchter and Elad Weingrod will be assisted by Am Oved editors to complete their novels and publish them. More than 300 beginnings of novels were submitted. "These are intriguing openings that invite a sequel; they're very different from each other in their voice and content," said Yuval Shimoni, an editor at Am Oved, about the winning entries.
