Magnitude 6.4 Earthquake Hits Cyprus, Felt in Israel

While the epicenter was reported in western Cyprus, shocks from the earthquake led dozens of Israelis to call the police

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook western Cyprus early Tuesday morning and was felt in Israel as dozens of calls to the police were made. 

The epicenter was reported 30 miles west-northwest of the city of Polis in western Cyprus, at a depth of two miles underground.

No known damage or casualties in Cyprus were reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured the magnitude level at 6.6 while the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute (EMSC) reported a magnitude of 6.3.

In October, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook the region of Crete and was also felt in Israel.
