Israeli Woman Drowns After Falling From Dinghy in a Guatemala River

An Israeli woman drowned on Tuesday on a rubber dinghy trek at a popular tourist destination in Guatemala, the authorities said.

Hadas Ayish, 60, of Tivon in northern Israel, apparently fell into the river. The Foreign Ministry has confirmed the information.

Guatemalan authorities said the accident occurred in the Cahabon River.

Several Israelis have been killed in the past year while on trips abroad.

In October, Ariel Freimann, 56, of Moshav Nir Zvi was killed in a fall during a Himalayan trek with his family in northern India.  In July an Israeli drowned in Cuba, and in March Orel Guetta, 24, of Kfar Saba was killed in an extreme sporting accident in Peru.
