An Israeli tourist travelling on a Russian train was mistaken for an ISIS agent after a fellow passenger saw him reading in Hebrew.
The man, identified as Mark G., was travelling from Moscow to Cheboksary when a Russian woman noticed his Hebrew language book, became suspicious, and notified the police to the presence of a member of the Islamic State, the Russian-language Israeli website izrus reported.
Mark, an IDF reservist, was detained and questioned by the police, who also inspected his luggage. The Israeli was on his way to join his wife and baby, who were visiting relatives in Cheboksary.
The police apologized for the misunderstanding.
