Israeli Soldier Mistakes Homeless Man for Terrorist

Soldier says man pulled knife on him before fleeing; police investigation finds attacker was likely not politically motivated.

An Israel Defense Forces soldier said he escaped an attempted stabbing attack on Tuesday morning. However, police ruled out a politically motivated attack, concluding the alleged attacker was a homeless person in the area.

According to the soldier, a man approached him at a bus stop near the Sde Dov air force base to talk to him and then pulled out a knife. The soldier, who said he thought the attack was politically motivated, was not injured. He said the suspect had fled the scene. .

However, after assessing the situation, checking security cameras and interviewing witnesses, the police determined that the attacker was apparently a homeless person who was passing through. The police are continuing to check the circumstances of the incident and searching the area.
