Israeli Seriously Wounded in West Bank Stabbing Attack, Assailant Shot and Killed

The attack took place near the Beit Einun junction, north of Hebron.

An Israel Defense Forces soldier was seriously wounded in a stabbing attack near Hebron on Monday morning; his Palestinian attacker was shot and killed.

The wounded soldier, who was stabbed in the neck and other parts of his body, was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where he underwent an emergency operation and was reported to be on a respirator.

The assailant was named as Ra’ad Talgi, a 22-year-old Palestinian man from the village of Sa’ir, north-east of Hebron. He was shot dead by IDF soldiers close to the scene of the attack.

His final message on Twitter was a picture of a female terrorist shot dead recently in Hebron with the text, “Imagine that she was your sister.”

On Sunday, an Israeli man was wounded in a stabbing attack on Highway 5, near the West Bank settlement of Ariel. The victim, 25, sustained moderate to serious knife wounds to his upper body.

The assailant fled the scene. A suspect was apprehended by security forces a few hours later.

The Shin Bet identified the suspect as Tamer Khadir, 26, a resident of Beita, a Palestinian village located near Nablus. He does not have a record with the security forces.

Earlier Sunday, an Israeli was moderately wounded in a stabbing attack at the Metzad Junction in the West Bank. The assailant, a Palestinian, escaped, and Israeli troops are searching for him.

Also on Sunday, a stabbing attack was thwarted near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, when security forces shot a knife-wielding Palestinian woman.
