Israel Police Shoots Palestinian Man to Death During Car Chase

Police officers suspected the passengers in the car were guilty of a break-in and driving a stolen vehicle. The unit that investigates police misconduct has opened an investigation

Police officers shot to death a Palestinian on Saturday during a car chase in the Jerusalem area. 

The man, whose name is still unknown, came from the West Bank village of Katana. He had been residing in Israel without a permit. 

Police officer suspected the people in the car had perpetrated a break-in and were driving a stolen car. They chased the car and shot at it.

The officers found the vehicle with the injured Palestinian man inside. He later succumbed to his wounds. 

In the car, the officers found break-in tools and equipment that they said appeared stolen, in addition to a safe. Police is searching for other suspects. 

The Justice Ministry unit that investigates police misconduct has opened an investigation into the shooting.
