Israeli forces arrested Saturday a Palestinian teen carrying a knife at a checkpoint in the West Bank.
The 14-year-old Palestinian girl, who lives in the West Bank, attempted to cross the Qalandiyah checkpoint in a lane designated for vehicles. The guards at the crossing, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah, instructed her to stop, but she refused to heed their calls.
Police said that when she continued to walk toward the guards they noticed she was holding a knife. She was then arrested.
On Friday, hundreds of Palestinians clashed with Israeli security forces across the West Bank and Gaza, in a show of support for hunger-striking Palestinians imprisoned in Israel.
Eleven Palestinians were wounded by gunfire in the southern Gaza Strip, two of them seriously, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. In the West Bank, dozens were wounded by tear gas and rubber bullets, the Palestinian Red Crescent said.
