In Suspected Double Murder, Bodies of Young Israeli Druze Couple Found in the Carmel Forest

Israel Police is investigating whether the incident is a double homicide, double suicide, or murder-suicide.

The bodies of a young Israeli couple were found in a forest near the village of Ein Hod in Hof Hacarmel on Saturday morning.

One of them was a 25-year-old man from the Druze village of Daliyat el-Carmel, while the other was a 19-year-old woman from the Druze village of Isifiya.

There were signs of violence on the bodies of the pair, who were engaged to be married. Police are investigating whether the incident is a double suicide, a murder-suicide, or a double murder.

A passerby who was in the area found the bodies and called the police.

The man was found hanged, while the body of the woman was a few meters away from him on the ground. Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced them dead on the scene. A dirt road linking Isifiya and the villages of Hof Hacarmel was found near the site.

An argument developed on Friday night between a number of the young woman's relatives and the man, according to the initial police investigation. Three of the relatives were detained by the Police following the argument.

Police say that the case is complicated, and are not discounting the possibility of murder.
