Last Friday, as some 200 Gaza residents gathered for a protest near the border with Israel, a drone was used to drop tear gas and disperse the crowd.

According to military sources, this crowd-control method is still experimental and has not yet been made operational.

Officials who were involved in the experiment said use of drones allows the army to control protests from a safer distance.

Over the weekend, two Palestinians were killed in clashes with the Israeli army. On Friday, Muhammed Zain Jabri, a 24-year-old resident of Hebron, was shot by live fire and later succumbed to his wounds. On Saturday, Amir Omar Shahada, 19, was shot and killed near the West Bank city of Nablus.
