Israel and Hamas are closer to a cease-fire and hostage release deal than at any point since December 2023. That was the headline Israelis woke up to on Monday morning, as talks in Qatar entered a crucial stretch and gaps between the two sides narrowed. As of Monday afternoon (Israel time), a deal seems imminent, but nothing has been finalized yet.
