Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on Thursday in Jerusalem.

Giuliani, who serves as an informal cyber-security adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, conveyed a personal message to Netanyahu from the U.S. president ahead of a meeting between the two leaders, a statement by the Prime Minister's Office said following the meeting.

In a conversation on Sunday, Trump invited Netanyahu to meet him in Washington at the White House in February. A final date for the visit will be set in the days ahead. During the conversation, Trump told Netanyahu that peace between Israel and the Palestinians could only be reached through direct negotiations.
