In the north, two residents of Yodfat were seriously hurt in a brush fire near Har Atzmon after they tried to help firefighters who arrived to battle the flames.

At least six fires were reported in Jerusalem, in neighborhoods including Katamon and Gilo, where firefighters succeeded in containing the blazes.

Two larger fires erupted in the Beit Shemesh area, where authorities were working to get the flames under control.

Firefighters and emergency officials have reinforced their deployments in the north and have eight planes at their disposal to help extinguish the blazes.
