Falling Tree Branch Kills Sleeping Boy on Galilee Camping Trip

Police to investigate campsite operators for negligence after tree branch crashes into tent of sleeping family, killing 14-year-old.

A 14-year-old boy from Kedumim was killed on Tuesday night after a Eucalyptus tree branch crashed onto the tent that he was sleeping in at the Jordan Park north of the Sea of Galilee.

The boy and his family, who were vacationing on the nature reserve, made camp and set up their tents on Monday evening. At around 3:10 A.M., a tree branch crashed onto the tent that the boy was sleeping in.

Magen David Adom paramedics called to the scene provided first aid before transfering the boy to Rambam hospital in Haifa, where he died of injuries to the head and chest.

According to Channel 10 News, in the wake of the incident, police have closed down the park, and are investigating the park owners for negligence.

A year and a half ago, a woman in her 40s was killed after a large tree fell on her as she walked down a street in Tiberias.
