Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party signed on Wednesday a surplus vote agreement with the far-right Religious Zionism party ahead of Israel's March election.

According to the agreement, if the combined  "surplus" votes – those that don't add up to a full Knesset seat – of two parties add up to an extra seat, that seat goes to the party with the greater number of surplus votes, which is usually the bigger of the two parties.
