Dozens of people protested on Monday night outside Yamina lawmaker Ayelet Shaked’s residence in Tel Aviv, both in favor and against the possibility of her party entering a coalition with Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Demonstrators opposed to Yamina’s decision to move toward entering a coalition with Lapid held signs accusing the party of being “collaborators” of the Yesh Atid leader and calling leftists “traitors.” Other protesters held signs endorsing the prospective government and arguing against holding another election.
A rally in favor of the formation of a government headed by Bennett and Lapid was also held in Tel Aviv's Habima Square.
After Yamina Chairman Naftali Bennett announced his intention to form a coalition with Lapid, he and Shaked were assigned security details on Sunday, and on Monday police decided to raise their level of protection to that given to government ministers. Police will intensify patrols around their houses, and they will have a security guard permanently based in her homes.
Lapid lamented the necessity for the security details at a Yesh Atid meeting on Monday, saying: “Guards were assigned to Shaked yesterday because some people want to murder here. Bennett has guards. I have guards. There are threats of murder and violence against all of us.” His mandate to form a coalition expires at the end of Wednesday.

On Sunday, protesters descended on the homes of Shaked, Bennett, and New Hope Chairman Gideon Sa’ar to demand that they refuse to join a coalition with Lapid. “We are in a war for our home,” said Orly Lev, a Netanyahu supporter who has been investigated for allegedly making threats against Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit. “We are in a war for the entire people of Israel. A government of terrorists is going to be formed here. Do you see the leftist traitors? They have stolen the right’s votes.”
