Film on Arab Boy's Unlikely Friendship With Israeli Ex-soldier Sets Guinness World Record

“Roads,” a short movie made by one Lior Geller in 2007, has made the book of Guinness World Records as the student movie to win the most awards.

The movie has been shown at 60 festivals in 36 countries and won 24 prizes, says Tel Aviv University’s Steve Tisch School of Film and Television.
Roads, an American Academy prize nominee in the category of student films, is a 20-minute crime drama, telling the story of an Arab boy from Lod who dreams of escape from his violent, drug-ridden life, and gets help from a demobbed Israeli soldier.
Following the movie’s success, Geller moved to Hollywood, where has sold a number of scripts, including for the spy thriller “Alone in Damascus,” based on the story of Israeli spy Eli Cohen. He is presently working on a full-length version of his short movie and is writing a television series together with William MacDonald, creator of the series “Rome” (2005), based on the story of the Maccabees
