Haaretz reporter Judy Maltz's film “From the Black You Make Color” won the Audience Award at the Tenth Annual International Women’s Film Festival in Rehovot Saturday.

The film, which made its Israeli premiere at the festival in Rehovot, provides a glimpse into the lives of eight women of diverse backgrounds who, over the course of one year, either teach or study at Diana Beauty Academy in Tel Aviv, which first opened its doors in 1954.

The International Women’s Film Festival concludes on Sunday, October 27.  Special programs to mark the festival’s tenth anniversary include a showcase of ten female filmmakers, a screening of the first feature film made by a woman in Israel and three days of screenings at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque. Twenty-five films participated in the Israeli competition at this year’s festival.
