Guitar legend Steve Vai, who started his career with Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention in the early eighties, will give a concert in Tel Aviv on March 26.
- Neil Young coming to Israel this summer
- Rolling Stones said planning June 10 show
- Finding Einstein in Switzerland
Vai, a three-time Grammy Award winner, last appeared in Israel in 2010. He will be accompanied by his full band for the 2014 concert in Tel Aviv’s Bronfman Auditorium. Tickets for the concert are on sale here from NIS 399.
Vai is only one of a feast of musicians scheduled to appear in Israel this year. The other rich pickings include American singer Son Lux, recently rated the best new artist of 2013 (Tel Aviv February 2), The Stars from the Commitments, a band made up of musician from the hit 1991 film "The Commitments" (Tel Aviv and Herzliya in March) and rock-and-roll legend Neil Young (Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park in July.)
Also expected are pop star Katy Perry and legendary British band the Rolling Stones, though dates have yet to be finalized. Australian super-group the Dead Daisies, made up of former members of Guns N’ Roses, the Rolling Stones and INXS, performed to a packed crowd in Tel Aviv in December.
Vai, 56, has released eight solo albums since going solo in 1983. He has also performed over 40 guest appearances on albums for the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Joe Jackson. Always on the forefront of musical creativity, Vai recently released “Vai360°”, an innovative new iOS app that includes a 360° interactive live concert experience and the capability to transport fans virtually to Vai’s personal studio.
The app is available on the iOS AppStore here.
