Putting an end to weeks of rumors, the British pop-rock powerhouse Coldplay formally announced Friday its first show ever in Israel.

A statement put out by the band's local representatives said that no date had been set, but that front man Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland were now in the country looking for a venue in both Israel and the West Bank.

The band, the statement said, was looking into venues in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, but also in Jericho and the Palestinian city of Rawabi. They said Coldplay plans to cooperate with Israeli and Palestinian artists, "which will peak with a numbers of shows that allow the residents of the area and neighboring countries to enjoy the band."

Last month, reports said Coldplay would perform in Israel, but soon after, a representative for the band denied the reports, telling Rolling Stone no such plan existed.
