The adaptation rights to the Israeli TV series Yaldei Rosh Hamemshala (The Prime Ministers' Children) has been sold to Hollywood producer Sarah Timberman of Timberman-Beverly Productions, it was announced on Monday.

The Israeli series, produced by Koda Communications, follows a prime minister's family and the changes that occur within it. In Israel, the show was broadcast on the cable TV network Hot. It will be adapted in the United States for CW, a network run as joint venture jointly between CBS Corporation and the Time Warner subsidiary Warner Brothers.

Yaldei Rosh Hamemshala was created by Shahar Magen and Noa Rotman, granddaughter of former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Timberman has produced such American TV shows as Justified and Masters of Sex.

The show fully and honestly examines the challenges and complexities of being part of the first family, Timberman said on Monday. She added that this was not surprising, given the identity of the show's creator. Timberman said that the adaptation of the series to American television would keep much of the Israeli series' structure, feel and occasional element of unexpected humor, but in the context of the family of a U.S. president.

The people at Hot welcomed the deal. The series has massive potential abroad, said Mirit Tubi, head of Hot's drama department. The way in which the series addresses the tension between the private and the public, with someone who at one moment is dealing with their minutiae of their everyday life and then the next moment are making fateful decisions is something that can work well anywhere.

The deal was brokered with the help of Adam Berkowitz, co-head of the television department at Creative Artists Agency.

Recently, another Israeli series Pitzuim Barosh (Head Injuries) was sold to a different Hollywood producer, Jerry Bruckheimer. The American adaptation of that series will be broadcasted on cable TV channel Cinemax, which is owned by HBO. Bruckheimer is known for serving as an executive producer on such hit American TV shows as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Cold Case, as well as blockbuster movies Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun and Pirates of the Caribbean, among others.
