Neither of the two Oscar-nominated documentary films from Israel won an Academy Award in Sunday evening's ceremony.

"Searching for Sugar Man" directed by Malik Bendjelloul won out against Israeli film, "The Gatekeepers", directed by Dror Moreh, and the Israeli/Palestinian offering, "5 Broken Cameras", directed by Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi in the category of Best Documentary.

Ben Affleck's "Argo" won the nomination for best picture, while Daniel Day-Lewis took home a record third Best Actor Oscar on Sunday for playing U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in "Lincoln."

Jennifer Lawrence won her first Oscar for her lead role as an outspoken young widow in the quirky comedy "Silver Linings Playbook," while Taiwanese-born Ang Lee won his second Oscar for Best Directing on Sunday for "Life of Pi," the adaption of Yann Martel's fantasy adventure novel about an Indian boy who survives a shipwreck but is stranded in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger.
