Chinese vice president Wang Qishan will visit Israel in on October 22.
Qishan, a longstanding ally of President Xi, will stay in Israel until October 25. He will be joined by a Chinese ministerial delegation to head the fourth China-Israel Innovation Committee.
Jack Ma, founder of China’s top e-commerce firm Alibaba, will join as well. Ma visited Israel in May.
Israel was chosen to host one of eight research and development centers for Alibaba, to build overseas research hubs to help it compete with global leaders in e-commerce, logistics and cloud technology.
In Israel, Alibaba opened an investment office in 2014 and has put money into startups in augmented reality (Infinity AR, Lumus), communications (Visualead), search engines (Twiggle) and cybersecurity (ThetaRay). It also invested money in the Israeli tech fund Jerusalem Venture Partners.
