A young child died and another was in serious condition on Thursday after they were hit by a car that drove onto a sidewalk in central Jerusalem
The children were taken to the Hadassah Hospital in Ein Karem for treatment. One of the children, a 3year-old boy, suffered head injuries and was breathing on a respirator.
He succumbed to his wounds shortly after arriving at hospital. His 5-year-old sister was still being treated.
An initial investigation revealed that the driver had lost control of her car and rolled over the sidewalk after her own vehicle was hit from behind. After hitting the children, the driver tried to move back on to the street and ran into a parked car.
The two people who were sitting in that car were lightly to moderately injured.
