Royal Jordanian Airlines is resuming flights to Israel after more than three weeks of hiatus, the company stated on Sunday.

The airline halted flights to Israel alongside other international airlines in the middle of Operation Protective Edge due to security concerns on July 23. Yet while nearly all the other airlines resumed flying shortly afterward, Royal Jordanian did not.

The airline has a daily flight from Ben-Gurion International Airport to Amman. Most Israelis on that flight are using Amman as a layover to other destinations.

For the past three weeks, Royal Jordanian continued selling tickets for the Tel Aviv-Amman line without mentioning to customers that it was not actually in operation. Instead, customers were flown via Israeli carrier Arkia or taken by land between Tel Aviv and Amman.

Dvora Bruchstein, manager of Royal Jordanian’s operations in Israel, stated that the company resumed flights to Israel over the weekend after making the decision last week, and added that the company never actually stopped flying, but rather delayed the flights due to security concerns. She added that the flights were not removed from Royal Jordanian’s schedule because the company examined the situation anew every day.
