Some of Get Taxi's drivers have announced that they will be staging a labor action between 7 A.M. and 10 A.M. every day this week and will not respond to cabs ordered through the mobile phone application during that time.
The labor dispute is the result of the company's decision about a month ago to eliminate a NIS 5.20 order fee that customers had been paying the drivers for every cab they summoned.
The drivers claim the loss of the fee costs them about NIS 150 a day, while the company insists that the new policy benefits the drivers because it encourages people to use the service. Get Taxi says the number of drivers involved in the labor action is limited. Similar disruptions were staged on Thursday, however, and many customers complained of difficulty in getting a cab.
Get Taxi's application enables customers to summon a taxi through a cellular phone application that provides precise information about the driver and when the cab will be coming.
