The cabinet is expected to approve a plan to provide compensation to uninsured homeowners whose property was damaged in this month’s storm that brought heavy winds, rain and snow.
The plan will provide as much as NIS 8 million in total. The assistance will be given to property owners who were uninsured for damage from natural causes and whose homes were significantly damaged by the storm, which lasted from January 6 through January 10.
The cabinet is expected to state that the compensation is beyond what the law requires and not a precedent for future policy. It will authorize the director general of the Prime Minister’s Office, Harel Locker, to develop and implement compensation procedures.
