The U.S. communications software provider Avaya said on Tuesday it was acquiring the software division of Israeli company ITNavigator in a deal believed to be valued in the tens of millions of dollars.
Avaya said the acquisition, for which it didn’t report a value, aims to bolster its offerings and customer support in cloud computing, social media monitoring and management solutions.
It is the American’s company’s second Israeli acquisition, after buying the video and teleconferencing technology provider Radvision for $230 million a year ago.
“Our customers’ experience with ITNavigator has indicated that they bring a differentiated, easy-to-use set of solutions that makes the promise of ‘next generation’ contact center, unified communications and cloud-based applications a reality,” said Avaya Senior Vice President and General Manager Gary Barnett.
Founded in 2001 as an information technology service provider for the Israeli market, ITNavigator began expanding into software development four years later and gradually made software the focus of its business operations. About a month ago, the company sold its services division to the Israeli computing company SEG.
ITNavigator’s software division, which employs 50 people in offices in Petah Tikva, will became a wholly-owned Avaya subsidiary and join the U.S. company's other research and development centers in Israel.
The two companies have had a long-standing connection. When ITNavigator expanded into software in 2005 it began developing complementary solutions for Avaya products, the most important of which was a unified software management solution for several Avaya products that is marketed today under the name NAV360.
In 2010, the company signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement with Avaya to market the product under the Avaya brand name as the Avaya Contact Center Control Manager. The software is used today by corporate clients such as AT&T, Verizon Communications, Deutsche Bank and Citibank.
ITNavigator was founded by CEO Nili Katzir, Chief Technology Officer Alex Gurevich, Vice President Marketing and Business Development Arik Shtilman and Contact Center Practice Leader Michael Vainshtein.
