A 62-year-old Israeli bus driver was seriously hurt in the northern city of Afula on Wednesday after being stabbed. The bus driver was at the wheel when he was stabbed by a group of youths, causing the bus to crash into a car.

The police say that two of the suspects fled the scene and a manhunt is now underway.

After the stabbing, the driver was treated at the scene of the incident and then taken to the Ha'emek Medical Center, where he is being treated for from upper body injuries. He will likely be taken to the Neurosurgery Ward at Rambam Hospital in Haifa to evaluate his upper body injuries.

"When we arrived at the scene, the driver was sitting at the front of the bus, conscious but suffering from bloody injuries on his upper body," a MADA paramedic on the scene said. "He told us that he was attacked by two youths who boarded the bus and it caused him to lose control while driving, so he hit a water pipe, another car, and a shop," a MADA paramedic said.

The two passengers in the private vehicle who were hit were lightly wounded, and were treated on the scene and evacuated to the local hospital as well.
