ADL Denounces Settler Attack on Leftist Activists Caught on Camera

The Jewish-American organization called on the Israeli government to hold those responsible accountable in a tweet

The Anti-Defamation League denounced on Friday the violent incident that took place near a West Bank illegal outpost, in which settlers attacked an Israeli left-wing activists and Palestinian farmers with rocks and sticks.

The incident, which was caught on video, took place when settlers threw stones at the activists, who belong to the Ta'ayush organization, and tried to hit them with clubs near the Baladim outpost. Four of the activists were lightly hurt, according to a complaint filed with the police.

In a tweet released on Friday evening, the Jewish-American organization devoted to fighting anti-Semitism and racism, wrote that it was "disturbed" by the images of the attack, and called on the Israeli government to take action. "Disturbed by attacks on non-violent activists, Palestinian farmers. Israel must investigate & hold perps accountable," said the short reference to the event, which made headlines in Israel and around the world.

A video captured by the activists shows masked figures approaching and attacking the group before fleeing.  One of activists attacked in the video is prominent rabbi and human rights activist Arik Ascherman, who has endured attacks of a similar nature in the past.
