Assailant identified as 26-year-old Palestinian from East Jerusalem

Police identify the assailant killed after attempting a stabbing attack in Jerusalem as 27-year-old Mussab Mahmoud Al-Razali from East Jerusalem.

According to the police, after spotting the Palestinian he was questioned by the police, at which stage he tried to pull out a knife. Another officer grabbed his hand and struggled with him, at some point moving away from the knife-yielding would-be assailant. After refusing police's call to drop the knife, the police shot him.

Palestinian shot dead after attempting to stab police in Jerusalem

The Israel Police shot a Palestinian who attempted to stab an officer near Jerusalem's Old City Saturday morning.

"Police officers spotted a man who aroused their suspicions and approached him to check," a police spokeswoman told AFP. "The terrorist pulled out a knife and tried to stab the policeman and was quickly killed by police gunfire."

Stabbing attempt reported in central Jerusalem

A Palestinian has attempted a stabbing attack in central Jerusalem on Saturday, but was shot before causing any injuries. The stabbing attempt took place at Jerusalem's IDF Square (also known as Allenby Square), not far from Jerusalem's Old City.

The assailant was shot and killed by the police and no one was injured in the incident.
