Would-be assailant identified as Hassan Abed Altif, 19

The Palestinian who was shot dead while trying to stab an Israeli soldier was identified as Hassan Abed Altif, 19, a resident of the West Bank village of Jamal.

According to Palestinian sources, he was trying to cross the separation fence into Israel to look for work.

A Palestinian who tried to an Israeli soldier was shot and killed Monday morning near the West Bank settlement of Sal'it, south of Tulkarm.

A military spokesperson said that no Israelis had been wounded in the assault.
