Jabalya, Gaza Strip — Instead of a festive fly-over or fireworks display, on the morning of Independence Day the Israel Defense Forces units operating in Jabalya watched as a salvo of rockets streaked over their heads toward Ashkelon, fired nearby from the center of what was once the largest refugee camp in Gaza. Later in the morning, fighter jets attacked Hamas targets in the camp, just a few hundred meters away from one of the units.
