These Are the Hostages Freed From Hamas Captivity on Sunday

The hostages were kidnapped into the Gaza Strip 51 days ago from border communities and released on Sunday, as part of a limited cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas

14 Israelis and three Thai citizens were released from Hamas captivity on Sunday, 51 days after being kidnapped to Gaza in Hamas' October 7 attack on southern Israel. Thirteen hostages were released as part of the third round of the exchange deal, including nine children. Another hostage, Ron Kariboi - who also holds Russian citizenship - was released following talks between Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Additionally, three Thai citizens were released following talks between Hamas and the government in Bangkok. One of the abductees, 84-year-old Alma Avraham, was hospitalized at Soroka Hospital. The hospital reported that she is in life-threatening condition.

The 13 abductees included in the exchange deal were released from the center of the Gaza Strip into the area of Kibbutz Be'eri, while the other four, Kariboi and three Thai citizens, were transferred to Israel through the Rafah crossing. The three Thai citzens are Wichian Temthong, Surin Kesungneon and Phonsawan Pinakalo.

This past weekend, 26 Israeli women and children were released from Hamas captivity as part of the hostage exchange deal and another 15 foreign citizens, from Thailand and the Philippines, following talks between Hamas and the Thai government.

Avigail Idan, 4

Four-year-old Avigail Idan.

Avigail Idan, who also holds a U.S. citizenship, was kidnapped alone to the Gaza Strip from Kibbutz Kfar Azza.

Last Friday, she celebrated her 4th birthday in captivity.

Avigail's father, Ynet News photographer Roy Idan, and her mother Smadar, were killed on October 7 in their kibbutz. Both her siblings, 9-year-old Michael and 6-year-old Amalia, survived the attack. Her grandparents are waiting for her in Kfar Harif.

At Avigail's father funeral, her grandfather said Israel "has a custom no other country has – that a father buries his son." He described how the children hid from Hamas terrorists for 14 hours, a scene that reminded him of "children hiding in attics and chimneys 80 years ago."

40-year-old Hagar Brodetz and her three children, 10-year-old Ofri, 8-year-old Yuval and 4-year-old Oriya were kidnapped from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Azza on October 7. A day before, Ofri had celebrated her birthday.

Hagar's husband and the children's father, Avichai Brodetz, survived that the attack. A week later, he launched a solitary protest outside the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv that soon swept many.

He also met in Washington with the Qatari ambassador to the U.S. "I don't think there is anyone in the world who wants to harm a mother and her children," he said.

Chen Goldstein-Almog, 48, and her children Agam, 17, Gal , 11 and Tal, 9

49-year-old Chen Goldstein-Almog was kidnapped from her home in Kibbutz Kfar Azza together with her three children – 9-year-old Tal, 11-year-old Gal, and 18-year-old Agam.

Nadav, Chen's husband, and her eldest daughter Yam were
murdered in the October 7 massacre. The family is related to retired general Doron Almog, former head of the Israeli army's Southern Command and currently the chairman of the Jewish Agency.

Last month, as Chen marked her birthday, her husband and daughter were buried in the cemetery at Kibbutz Shefayim.

Adrienne 'Aviva' Siegel, 62, kidnapped from Kibbutz Kfar Azza

62-year-old Aviva and 64-year-old Keith Siegel came to Kibbutz Kfar Azza 42 years ago, after making aliya from the U.S. They studied Hebrew, served in the IDF and remained in the kibbutz despite ideological differences.

On the day of the massacre, terrorists broke into their home shooting and hurling grenades. They hid in a safe room for hours, until they were eventually kidnapped.

Their daughter, Shir, said that "since that terrible Saturday I haven't heard their voice, haven’t felt the palm of their hand, haven't received a hug from them. I don’t know if they're hot or cold, if they are sleeping at night, if they're getting the medication they have to take daily."

Elma Avraham, 84, kidnapped from Kibbutz Nahal Oz

84-year-old Elma Avraham was kidnapped from her home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz, where she lived for half a century.

"I don't know how she's going through this, she's an old woman who needs medicine," said her son Uri. He recognized his mother in a photograph showing her seated on a motorcycle between two armed terrorists on their way to Gaza.

Elma arrived at the kibbutz in 1974. She was married and had two children, and later married a widower who was raising his own two children. Together they had another son, and so Elma raised
five children. Her daughter Maayan died of cancer last year.

Dafna Elyakim, 15 and Ella Elyakim, 8, from Kibbutz Nahal Oz

8-year-old Ella and her fourteen-year-old sister Dafna were abducted to Gaza from their father's house in Kibbutz Nahal Oz. They witnessed the murder of their father Noam, his partner Dikla and her son Tomer.

On Saturday, October 7, Hamas terrorists broke into the family home and documented the family live on Facebook and other platforms.

Maayan Zin, the girls' mother, said she is afraid to think what her daughters witnessed. "They saw horrors, they saw their father being murdered, his partner, her son, and I don't know what else they saw."

Roni Krivoi, 25

Roni was kidnapped on October 7 from the outdoor rave near Kibbutz Re'im. His parents, brother and sister made aliya from Russia in 1992.

Roni is the only one who was born in Israel, in 1998. In recent years the family has been living in the northern city of Carmiel.
