But on the 26th day of the Israel-Hamas war, program host Guy Lerer presented followers on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account with a real-time conundrum. “Serious question: Why did millions of Syrian refugees go to Turkey and millions of Ukrainians went to all parts of Europe – why in every war is there a phenomenon of refugees [fleeing a country], except for the war in the Gaza Strip? (Of course, with the reasonable assumption that we would allow it if there were countries willing to absorb them).”
