A woman and two young girls were killed Thursday after a bus driver lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a busy Jerusalem bus stop, police and medics say.

The woman in her 30s and a three-year-old girl were pronounced dead immediately. After the bus was lifted in the air, paramedics found a seven-year-old-girl underneath, and she was pronounced dead as well.

Emergency services reported at least two other casualties in the accident on Shamgar street, just north of the city center, but their condition wasn't immediately clear.

Police said the incident is being investigated as an accident, and emergency crews are searching to see if there are people trapped under the bus.

According to Magen David Adom, six people were injured and taken to local hospitals, including one in serious condition, two in moderate condition and three lightly wounded people.

Israeli Police said they questioned the driver, who was lightly injured in the incident: "This is a traffic accident and not a terror attack."
