Israel Police and the Shin Bet security service arrested a Palestinian man on Wednesday suspected of involvement in an ax attack that occurred Tuesday in the Tel Aviv area.

The suspect is currently being investigated by the Shin Bet.

The wounded man, Yitzhak Dahan, was taken to the hospital in critical condition after suffering cuts to his head. Over the last 24 hours his condition improved, and he is now in moderate condition.

"I got onto the bridge from Bnei Brak to Givat Shmuel and saw someone walking towards me, reaching into a bag," Dahan told Channel 12 News.

"Slowly we got closer to each other and I managed to slip away from him. After a few seconds he came up behind me and struck my head with something, probably a metal object."

Dahan said that during the incident the attacker said a few words to him, but he could not understand what was being said.
