It’s been a long time since any appointment to a senior government position was greeted with applause. Yet such is the case regarding Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s appointment of Eyal Hulata, announced Sunday, as head of the National Security Council. Hulata will be replacing Meir Ben-Shabbat, who retires at the end of the month.
