What’s Behind the Remarkable Surge in Aliyah From Argentina
Argentina’s economic woes, exacerbated by the global health crisis, have caused a double-digit growth in immigration to Israel and a surge in new files opened with the Jewish Agency
Marcelo Neumann first immigrated to Israel from Argentina at age 10, together with his parents. Two years later, the family moved back to Buenos Aires, but at age 22, he returned to Israel on his own. He didn’t stay very long that time either, returning again to Argentina after just a few years. A month ago, at age 41, Neumann moved back to Israel once again, this time together with a wife and three children.
