Five people were killed Monday night in traffic accidents in northern and central Israel.

In one case, the bruised body of a 35-year-old man was found near a scooter that he had been riding on Jabotinsky Street in Tel Aviv. Police are investigating it as a possible hit-and-run.

In another incident, at 1 A.M., a car with five occupants hit a fence near Zichron Yaakov in the north. The 20-year-old driver was trapped in his seat and died. His four passengers were taken to hospitals, including a 25-year-old woman in serious condition with abdominal injuries, who was admitted to Hillel Yaffeh Medical Center in Hadera.
